Smith & Wesson 28-2 (c.1967) - 357 Magnum "Highway Patrolman"
The Model 28 (Highway Patrolman) was introduced in 1954 as a less expensive service pistol for police officers and others who wanted the strong N frame 357 but did not want to spend "big bucks" for a model 27. The 28 the same construction as the 27, but the finish is not as polished and refined - the bluing is more matte than polished and there is less detail overall - for example, no checkering on the top strap. There was no nickel option (save a very small number made for police sales). Only two barrel lengths ( 4" & 6") available and no choice on sights or other features. A basic revolver. Still, many consider this as a very desirable collectable revolver, especially in good condition as this one which dates to 1967 and has the 4" barrel.Read More
